Sammie & Jacob’s garden backyard wedding was filled to the brim with sweet little touches of their love story. They got married at Jacob’s family home in Ridgefield, Washington, and the entire day was such a beautiful reflection of the bond between them. It was emotional, a little wild, and just fulllll of beautiful moments!
What could possibly be more meaningful than saying “I do” at the family home you grew up in?! Especially when that home is not only full of memories but also happens to be gorgeous, spacious, and basically tailor-made for a wedding day? I mean look at that garden!
Sammie and Jacob’s wedding was exactly that—a heartfelt celebration at Jacob’s childhood home in Ridgefield, WA. Tucked away in the northwest corner of Clark County, this little city is known for its breathtaking mountain views and its proximity to the Columbia and Lewis Rivers.
Jacob’s family home was no exception. Picture wide-open farmland, a tranquil vibe surrounded by oak trees, and a backdrop that felt like it was straight out of a dream. It set the perfect stage for a romantic, intimate celebration filled with love and laughter.
If you’ve ever thought about hosting a backyard wedding, consider this your sign to do it at your childhood home (or your partner’s)! As long as there’s enough space to comfortably fit your guests, it’s hard to beat the charm and meaning of saying your vows somewhere so close to your heart.
One of my favorite parts of Sammie and Jacob’s day was how every detail and piece of decor came together through the love and effort of their family and friends. From setting up pop-up tents to prepping the garden and lawn, to arranging every last piece of decor, their loved ones worked together to make the day unforgettable. How special is it to not only have your favorite people by your side on your wedding day but also see their personal touch in every corner of the celebration?
And let’s talk about the decor for a minute because Sammie and Jacob’s garden wedding theme! Complete with vintage-inspired details—was truly something to behold. I started the day by capturing all those meaningful little details. Sammie’s jewelry, her shoes, the florals, vow books, and—my personal favorite—the breathtaking garden itself!
The florals were absolutely next-level. The stunning arrangements, featuring dahlias and ranunculuses, felt even more special because a family friend created them! And who could forget the gorgeous Lambeth-style cake, baked and designed with love by Sammie’s aunt? Every personal touch, contributed by the people who mean the most to Sammie and Jacob, made their day all the more meaningful.
Sammie’s first look with her bridesmaids and her ring “girlies” was one of the most emotional moments of the day. From outside, the ladies opened the French doors leading from the dining room to reveal Sammie in her gown. Gasps, laughter, and happy tears immediately filled the room as everyone took in Sammie’s stunning bridal look. It was a moment of pure joy and connection, perfectly setting the tone for the day ahead.
Later, Sammie shared an intimate first look with Jacob outside in the side yard under a charming garden arch. The scene was idyllic, with the lush greenery and soft sunlight filtering through. As soon as Jacob turned around to see Sammie, his face lit up with such love and emotion. They laughed, hugged, and teared up as they soaked in those precious first moments together. It was a beautiful reminder of why these moments are some of the most cherished on a wedding day.
The ceremony was the heart of Sammie and Jacob’s garden backyard wedding. With their youth pastor officiating, it was deeply personal and emotional. Sammie and Jacob originally met at church, thanks to Jacob’s mom, who set them up on their first date—a story that drew smiles and laughter from their guests. As they exchanged vows under a beautifully adorned arbor in the lush garden, there wasn’t a dry eye in the crowd. Guests were visibly moved, not only by the heartfelt promises Sammie and Jacob shared but also by hearing the touching story of how their journey together began. It was a testament to love, faith, and the meaningful connections that brought them to this unforgettable moment.
As the evening rolled in, so did an insane thunderstorm—a twist that no one saw coming. Thankfully, the pop-up tents kept guests mostly dry, but Sammie and Jacob’s loved ones didn’t let a little rain dampen the festivities. Speeches were given under umbrellas, and their first dances happened right there in the pouring rain. What could have been a disheartening turn of events transformed into one of the most memorable moments of the day. Friends and family wasted no time hitting the dance floor, embracing the rain, and literally soaking up every ounce of joy and laughter. The sight of everyone’s unwavering love and support was nothing short of incredible. Did you know rain on your wedding day is a symbol of good luck? If that’s true, Sammie and Jacob’s marriage is overflowing with good fortune!
This intimate garden wedding was not just about the perfect moments, but also about embracing the imperfections and finding joy in unexpected situations.
